Privacy Policy

MurMur is a private messenger. This page is short because there is almost nothing to describe: we hold no personal data about you.

What we do NOT collect

  No account. No email, no phone number, no name is ever registered.
• 🔐
  No message content. Messages are end-to-end encrypted on your device. The server only relays encrypted envelopes it cannot read.
• 🧹
  No message history. An undelivered envelope stays on the server for at most 24 hours, then is deleted permanently. We cannot recover a message we no longer have.
• 📇
  No contact book. Your contacts live on your device. We do not know who you talk to.
• 🕶️
  No tracking. No advertising SDKs, no fingerprinting, no analytics cookies.
• 🛡️
  Nothing to hand over. If someone demands your data, there is nothing to give.

What is technically visible to the server

Running a relay inevitably exposes some information to the operator, even when the content is encrypted:

• 📦
  Delivery metadata — which encrypted envelope goes to which public key — exists only while the envelope is queued for delivery, then is deleted together with it.
• 📊
  Traffic volume is visible at the network layer, as it is for any internet service.

We do not sell, share, or monetize this data. There is no business model that depends on it.

Your rights

Because we do not hold personal data about you, there is usually nothing for us to export or delete on request. If you believe we hold data about you, contact us and we will verify.

Donations

MurMur accepts donations only in Monero. We have no payment processor, no bank details, and nothing to link a donation to a chat identity — a Monero transaction simply reveals nothing about you to us.
